#StolenSeat: A U.S. Constitutional Crisis
There’s no turning back from this. We now have a United States Supreme Court Justice sitting in a #StolenSeat. Gorsuch is an usurper.
The other members of the Supreme Court will never respect him, not completely. How could they? They know he doesn’t belong there. No one will trust him. He lacked the integrity to turn down the job knowing it rightfully belonged to Merrick Garland.
The public will despise him. They will view all decisions he makes as illegitimate. Every ruling will be unprecedented, unconstitutional.
The United States Supreme Court has lost a reverence attributed only to it throughout its more than two centuries of existence. No matter the outcome, the vast majority of Americans accepted their rulings, even when we disagreed with them.
That ends today.
The special honor it held for over two hundred years has simply evaporated with this unethical betrayal by the @GOP. For generations to come, the Supreme Court will be scorned and mistrusted. The dishonor inflicted upon it by the @GOP will not fade.
Senator Mitch McConnell has broken the very foundation of our country, the pillars that held it up as a beacon of light. This is a man who belongs in a dark cell, where he can spend the rest of his life contemplating the horrors he has inflicted upon us all.
But he is not alone in this. He shares that dishonor with all of his Republican colleagues. He shares this dishonor with Neil Gorsuch.
We all lost today. We lost something so profound and fundamental to our identity as Americans that this may be an impassable chasm. We’ve been betrayed. The Republican Party are traitors to this nation. They need to be removed from office. And never again given power.
And the Democratic Party must impeach this man at their very earliest opportunity to do so. Anything less means we live in a lawless society. If we do not right this ship, we are lost at sea forever.
